For the Spring 2020, the South Carolina Biomass Council has arranged a tour of the RePower-Berkeley operations in Moncks Corner. Repower-Berkeley is a Mixed Material System capable of processing 50 tons per hour of municipal solid waste and recyclables. The system uses state-of-the-art optical sorters, robotics, infrared technology and other automated processes to produce bundles of classified plastics and metals for sale. It currently receives material from both Berkeley and Charleston Counties. RePower South generates a bioenergy fluff that is available as alternative fuel.
We will meet at 10am at the site at 645 Oakley Road in Moncks Corner 29461. The tour and meeting should conclude around noon, and there will be an opportunity for lunch and networking afterward at Taco Boy (I-26 and Highway 17a in Nexton Square - 106 Front Street Summerville SC)
