In May 2015, Ameresco broke ground on Phase II of the existing biomass-cogeneration facility at the Savannah River Site, which will make it the largest plant of its kind in the nation. Phase II will increase steam production and green electricity - approximately 3-4 megawatts (MW) for a total of 23-24 MW. Construction is expected to begin in June 2014 and the plant commissioned in spring 2016. Additional information may be found in the
Aiken Standard.
