Quarterly SCBC Meeting

The Fourth Quarterly meeting of the South Carolina Biomass Council will be held at the Savannah River National Laboratory in Aiken, SC on November 17.  This tour will include a speaker from the US Forestry Service on how the over 300 square miles of forest on the Savannah River Site are managed and the potential for its use as biomass.  The meeting will also include a tour of the SRS Biomass Cogeneration Facility, the largest in the US on federal lands.  The meeting schedule is listed below.

 

12:00- 1:30  Board of Directors Meeting

 

12:00 - 1:30 General meeting participants arrive to badge in at SRS

 

1:30-1:40 Welcome and introductions, including meeting logistics 


1:45-2:15 Speaker 1:  Dr. Andy Horcher, US Forestry Service


2:15-2:30 Speaker 2: Ken Chacey,  SRS Cogen facility Plant Manager 


2:30 board buses to travel to plant 


3:00 arrive at plant 


3:00-4:00  plant tour 


4:00-4:30 board buses and travel back to ARC 


4:30 depart for home 

 

Important notes and RSVP:  In order to tour the biomass facility, badging must be completed.  Please contact Elise Fox at 803-507-8560 or elise.fox@srnl.doe.gov with your name as it appears on your drivers license, address as it appears on your drivers license, and social security number. All information must be received by November 1.  Foreign nationals must fill out additional documentation, which must be received by October 1.

 

DIRECTIONS AND MEETING INSTRUCTIONS WILL BE SENT TO PARTICIPANTS TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED MEETING.
