Biomass Project of the Year    Biomass Advocate of the Year     


Purpose: In order to recognize outstanding contributions biomass in South Carolina, the South Carolina Biomass Council establishes this award for the Biomass Project of the Year.


Nature: The award consists of a plaque commemorating the award, to be presented at a quarterly meeting in the second half of the year


Establishment and Support: The award was established by the SC Biomass Council in 2017, with the first award being in 2017. 


Rules of Eligibility: The award shall be limited to projects within the state of SC that have had, in the opinion of the selection committee, a significant and continued impact on the advancement of biomass through research, teaching, regulation, business development, commercial industry, or any combination of the above.  The award shall be granted without regard to age, sex, or nationality.  In addition, no one who has served on the Board of Directors in the award year or the year prior to the award is eligible.


Selection Committee and Nominations: The selection committee shall consist of the Board of Director serving in the award year.  Nominations may be made by any member of the SC Biomass Council to the selection committee.  The closing date of nominations shall be published in the Newsletter and will awarded in the second half of the year.  Members of the Board of Directors who choose to nominate any project or individual may not participate in the selection discussion.




2017 RecipientColumbo Energy

Rules of Eligibility: The award shall be limited to individuals within the state of SC who have had, in the opinion of the selection committee, a significant and continued impact on the advancement of biomass through research, teaching, regulation, business development, commercial industry, service to the SC Biomass Council, or any combination of the above.  The award shall be granted without regard to age, sex, or nationality.  In addition, no one who has served on the Board of Directors in the award year or the year prior to the award is eligible.
